A couple days ago, I posted my slight annoyance with one of the castmates of VH1's "Basketball Wives," Jennifer Williams (shown above). If you missed last Monday's episode, Ms. Williams is taped having a conversation with fellow castmate, Suzie Ketcham where the two are discussing the production of another castmate's music video. Kenya Bell, the third castmate in question, is from Detroit and is actually a former Miss Michigan USA! Coincidentally, Bell is also a fledgling musician looking to make a way in the music industry without spending an arm and a leg to get her first video off the ground. Anywho, Jen insults Kenya's pursuit of a cheaper venue and beverage costs by saying: "This isn't Detroit! This is New York! We don't drink kool-aid!"
LOL WHOOSAH! AGAIN!
When I heard this, I knew there would be some type of recanting or apology coming soon! After all, Jen makes money off of her nationwide appearances, and at some point, she would have to return to the D!! Apparently, that time has come. Jen will be hosting next Friday, March 23, 2012, at Club Pandemonium, and she called in to FM 98 WJLB last night to promote her appearance and to also smooth some things over in regards to her rude comments. "I don't want no problems from the D!" Jen told WJLB evening host, Dr. Darrius. Jen also apologized at length for her role in the diss.
Twitter exploded with mixed reviews on the sincerity of Jen's apology. Most felt that she only called in to ensure the attendance of Detroiters at next week's event while others felt that Jen's opinions on the D were justified and she just spoke out of turn. I've gotta go with the former on this one though, guys. On the show, Jen is constantly commenting recklessly and then working overtime later to clean up her mess!!! Regardless, she did apologize although I'm sure she lost a lot of fans in Detroit who won't be crossing back over.
It all goes back to the old adage: "THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!" Hopefully, Ms. Williams will learn this very soon!
